Michele Fattori was born in Trento in 1982, and completed his bassoon studies in Salzburg and Vienna under the guidance of Prof. Richard Galler, in Freiburg with Prof. Stefan Schweigert and in Berlin at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2006 and in 2007 he was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.
He plays regulary with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and with the Orchestra Mozart, founded and conducted by Claudio Abbado, and since 2007 he’s a member of the Spira mirabilis project. In the season 2010/11 he played as Principal Bassoon with the London Symphony Orchestra and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
He got the chance to play with the most important conductors: Sir S. Rattle, D. Barenboim, I. Fisher, P. Boulez, V. Gergiev, D. Harding, Sir C. Davis, B. Haitink, M. Jansons to name a few, taking part in many recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Harmonia Mundi, LSO Live.
Since 2008, after having seen a concert of the Ensemble Zefiro, he developed a keen interest in period instruments, and began to study baroque bassoon with Alberto Grazzi. In 2010 he was a member of the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO), and collaborates now with many ensemble such as Orfeo 55, Musica Humana, I Barocchisti, Ensemble Zefiro and many others.
Since 2012 he is Bassoon Professor at the Conservatory “B. Marcello” in Venice.
Michele is in the team of the Young Artists of the Accademia Europea Villa Bossi in Bodio – Varese, Italy.
