Osmosis, energy, refinement… Marjorie Pfister and Varvara Manukyan have been working together since 2007.
You can sense it when they play, their two breaths become one. Either in baroque, classic or romantic works, their desire is in putting forward an historical approach of these pieces, playing them on period instruments, while also searching for the appropriate articulation and the phrasing which will bring to light the literature for both instruments.
After a strong musical education and a specialisation in early music, accompanied by a number of Maestros, they founded the Cuvilliés Trio (flute, cello, fortepiano/harpsichord) and went all over Europe, playing in concerts and festivals (Barcelona Antiqva, Oude Muziek Utrecht Festival Fringe, Basel Aurore, Erbdrostenhof Münster, Saison du Théâtre de Namur, BNM München, Schlosskonzerte Bad Krozingen…) and also on radio programs (Espace 2, WDR 3, Concertzender…)
Aside from this concert activity, the Trio Cuvilliés have participated in three prestigious international competitions: IYAP Antwerpen, van Wassenaer Amsterdam and Rovereto. Each time, they have been among the finalists… and have continued to benefit from the advice of Maestros such as Christine Schornsheim, Bart van Oort, Andreas Staier or Pedro Memelsdorff.
From this successful experience as three, became the desire to concert also as a duet. You can hear these two musicians dialoging with verve, pleasure and enthusiasm!
