Bart Van Oort

After graduating in piano from the Royal Conservatory de l’Aia in 1983, Bart van Oort studied fortepiano with Stanley Hoogland at the same Conservatory. In 1986, he won the first place and the public’s special prize at the Mozart Competition for Fortepiano of Bruges, in Belgium. Later, he studied with Malcolm Bilson at the Cornell University (Itaca, NY) graduating as Doctor of Musical Arts in Executive Praxis on Historical Instruments, in 1993. He performed in many festivals in Utrecht, Florence, Berlin, Anvers, Bruges, Melbourne, Brisbane, York, Montpellier, Moscow e Esterhaza, in the USA, and in New Zealand, and he held conferences and master classes in the conservatories of Brussels, Paris, Moscow, Helsinki, Oslo, Bucharest, Sofia, Stavanger, Perugia, Sydney, Adelaide, Wellington, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Juilliard, Bloomington e the west Ontario. Bart van Oort teaches fortepiano and is an Historical Performance Practice professor at the Royal Conservatory of the Aia (in the Netherlands.) Bart van Oort is without any doubts considered as one the most important fortepianist of our time.
