From 1991 to 1995, Lorenzo Coppola has been Eric Hoeprich’s student in his historical clarinet class, at the Conservatorio Reale of the Aia, in Holland.

He collaborated with ensembles and musicians specialized in the execution of baroque and classical music with original instruments, such as Les Arts Florissants (W. Christie), La Petite Bande (S. Kuijken), Orchestra of the XVIII century (F. Brüggen), Freiburger Barockorchester (G. von der Goltz), La Grande Ecurieetla Chambredu Roy (J.C. Malgoire), Libera Classica (H. Suzuki), and Bach Collegium Japan (M. Suzuki).

He also carries out chamber music activities with ensembles such as the Kuijken Quartet (S. Kuijken), the Ensemble Zefiro (A. Bernardini), the Manon Quartett (A. Daskalakis), L’arte dell’arco (H.Suzuki), Quatuor Terpsycordes(G.Bottiglieri), Sergiu Luca (Context), and Isabelle Faust.

He has been teaching historical clarinet and chamber music since 2004, at the la Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona. His experience with the Freiburger Barockorchester, which is an orchestra without conductor specialized in classical and early-romantic repertoire, led him to be often sought to participate to meetings of orchestras and young chamber ensembles, where he shares with students codes and strategies to go through rehearsals and concerts without any conductor.

He recorded some significant works from Mozart’s repertoire with the clarinet (Serenate KV 375&388, Gran Partita KV 370a, Quintetto KV 581 for clarinet and bows, Divertimenti KV 439b for three basset-horns, and Concerto KV622) in collaboration with the Ensemble Zefiro, Ensemble Philidor, Quartetto Kuijken, and Freiburger Barockorchester, for record companies such as Harmonia Mundi, Callyope, Astrée-Auvidis, and Challenge.
